Liam Noble Swimming 60km for Movember
By Paul Fears | 23 November 2023
Liam Noble is swimming 60km in the month of November 2023 to raise money for Movember. This equates to Liam swimming 2,400 lengths of a 25-metre long swimming pool.
“I swim regularly to keep fit physically and mentally,” explained Liam, “and set myself the target of swimming three-times the distance I would normally swim in a month for Movember.”
Liam joined Bunting-Berkhamsted in early 2021 and is presently the company’s quality inspector
The Movember charity has funded more than 1,250 men’s health projects around the world, challenging the status quo, shaking up men’s health research and transforming the way health services reach and support men. ‘Mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer – we’re taking them all on’, states the charity on their website.
When a number of the men working at Bunting’s Berkhamsted operation in the UK proposed growing moustaches for Movember 2023, Liam decided to do something different. Also inspired by his father’s charity bike rides, Liam announced his 60km swimming challenge. Liam anticipated that he will need to spend 27 hours in the swimming pool to complete the 60km swim. However, the challenge is proving more difficult that Liam first thought.
“I was comfortably swimming over 20km a month and so the 60km target was very achievable,” explained Liam. “However, I did not account for injury and illness. I have had to rest and recover more frequently that I had planned.”
Liam is well on course to reach and surpass swimming 60km before the end of November by doing two or three swimming sessions every day. Keep it going Liam! You’re doing amazing!
