Ferrites are crystalline ceramic, homogeneous materials. They are composed of oxides of Iron, Manganese, Nickel, Magnesium and Zinc. The most popular are combinations of manganese and zinc (MnZn) or nickel and zinc (NiZn).
These materials exhibit good magnetic properties below the Curie point. They can be easily magnetized and offer high intrinsic resistivity without the need for laminations that would be required for magnetic metals.
A wide range of compositions are available with magnetic properties tuned to specific applications, so for this, we have a range of over 30 grades.
Ferrite formulations only give a potential for magnetic achievement. Realising a technically useful component requires controlled microstructure and processing.
